First Always began with a closet full of clothes, a love of jewelry, and a thought I couldn’t quite let go of: What if I finally did something with this?
I’ve spent nearly 30 years building a career in title insurance. I’m proud of that work, and it’s still a big part of my life. But I wanted to make room for another part of myself—the woman who loves putting an outfit together, finding a beautiful piece of jewelry, and saying, “Look at this. Wouldn’t you love it?”
At 50, I started thinking differently about how I wanted to spend my time. After years of giving so much of my energy to work and relationships, I wanted to put some of that energy into an idea of my own. Something creative. Something I could build and watch grow.
That’s where the name First Always comes from. It’s a reminder to stop putting ourselves at the bottom of our own lists. I’m still learning to do that, too.
Jewelry felt like a natural place to start.
I love how a necklace or a pair of earrings can make even jeans and a simple top feel like an outfit. My style is polished but relaxed, and I choose pieces that fit that way of living: jewelry you can wear to work, out to dinner, or simply because you feel like wearing something pretty.
The First Always jewelry collection is personally selected by me. I look for pieces I’d be excited to wear and share, with a mix of everyday favorites and something a little different. As the business grows, I look forward to exploring new styles and bringing more of my ideas to life.
The Closet is personal, too. It began with pieces from my own wardrobe—clothing, shoes, handbags, and accessories that I’ve enjoyed but am ready to pass along. Letting something go is easier when you can imagine someone else finding it and loving it in their own way.
And yes, I have big hopes for this little business.
I’m building First Always in the evenings and on weekends, alongside my full-time career. I’m learning as I go, making decisions, changing my mind sometimes, and getting excited when something I’ve imagined starts to come together. I want it to succeed. I want to look back one day and feel proud that I gave this idea a real chance.
Part of that dream is creating a place you enjoy coming back to—a place where you find pieces you love and feel comfortable asking a question or telling me what you’d like to see next. There’s a real person here choosing the jewelry, writing these words, and appreciating every order and kind message.
